Unanswered Questions Part 2

It wasn't long after Cody got to Big Spring that he wrote home and asked about the federal judge who struck down Utah's voter approved constitutional amendment which defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman.  He had already been asked about this issue by those he was teaching.    Some began to think that the church was beginning to feel the pressure to change their stand on gay marriage.  This is what the church says on their website, mormonsandgays.org.

Few topics are as emotionally charged or require more sensitivity than same-sex attraction. This complex matter touches on the things we care about most: our basic humanity, our relationship to family, our identity and potential as children of God, how we treat each other, and what it means to be disciples of Christ.

The Church’s approach to this issue stands apart from society in many ways. And that’s alright. Reasonable people can and do differ. From a public relations perspective it would be easier for the Church to simply accept homosexual behavior. That we cannot do, for God’s law is not ours to change. There is no change in the Church’s position of what is morally right.

Cody and I talked at great length about those very important words, "God's law is not ours to change."  This topic is one of the greatest tests of faith I have ever experienced, but my allegiance will always be to my Father in Heaven even when I don't fully understand...........
